Southampton theatre to present world-class musical
A musical production of the King and I will be held at a Southampton theatre next month.
The production is taking place at the Mayflower Theatre on Commercial Road and is set to see fans of musicals attending from Hedge End, Woolston and other parts of Southampton. The musical will see Broadway star Jose Llana taking on the role of the King, and West End favourite Annalene Beechey playing Anna. The production was dubbed ‘the theatrical event of 2018’.
The critically acclaimed and award-winning Lincoln Center Theatre’s take on the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic is set for a world tour, following its box office-smash season in London at the Palladium. Theatres can sometimes use professional printing services to create posters to advertise their upcoming shows.
Hailing from what many refer to as the golden age for musicals, the King and I includes a well-known score with songs like ‘Whistle a Happy Tune’, ‘Shall We Dance’ and ‘Getting to Know You’. The production opening in Southampton will include 50 performers along with full orchestra.
The opening night of the King and I at the Mayflower Theatre will take place on April 21 with a running time of just under three hours. Performances of the musical will be held at the theatre until the final show on May 2.
