Southampton blues fans welcome Trout

An acclaimed American blues guitarist is set to perform a live set at a well-established venue in Southampton in spring.

Music enthusiasts in Southampton’s Hedge End will get to see blues guitarist Walter Trout on stage in springtime. The renowned US artist is coming to nearby Brunswick Square to perform at iconic Southampton night spot “The 1865”, the largest independent venue for grassroots events and music in the city.

Born in New Jersey in the US, back in 1960s, Trout’s early career saw him play the local music scene but the 70s took him to LA. There he played alongside multiple music legends including Big Mama Thornton, John Lee Hooker, Joe Tex and Percy Mayfield.

In the 80s he took on lead guitarist duties for Canned Heat and toured the US, Australia and Europe extensively. He then joined John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers playing in a position formerly filled by guitar greats Eric Clapton and Peter Green.

Walter Trout will be live in concert at 1865 On Thursday, May 8. The performance has a start time of 7.30 pm and the venue can be found in Brunswick Square in Southampton, less than 20 minutes from Hedge End.
