Celebrity helps out Hampshire hospice

Television presenter Alistair Stewart has assisted in the promotion of Naomi House, a hospice based in the Hampshire area.

The hospice now has a new roof, and Stewart was part of a ceremony held to mark the end of significant building work that has extended what the structure has to offer. Naomi Cornelius-Reid – for whom the charity is named – was also in attendance.

Approximately £4m has been spent on the project. The new facilities could well be of use when making the charity more visible to the public, and such moves may further benefit from using brochure printers in Southampton, near Hedge End.

The construction work has involved the creation of additional living spaces equivalent to almost 1,000m sq. In practice, this means that the bedrooms are now bigger than they once were and furthermore, a bereavement space has been created.

Different types of therapy will be accessible to the individuals and families who will use the hospice. Specifically, music therapy, sensory therapy and hydrotherapy will all be available on the site. A bridge will now help children from an adjacent hospice to access the amenities at Naomi House.

Mark Smith, the head operating officer of the charity, told local media:

“Thank you everyone who has helped so far and please help us reach our target to complete the works for the summer of next year.”
