The sporting village plan will be looked at by two council bodies. However, a public consultation on the idea will also go ahead. The hope is that a decision can be arrived at before 2017. Full colour printing within Cambridge could be used as part of the consultation process going forward.
Cambridge City Council (CCC) and South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC) have come together to look at the proposals. The organisations have made a statement which has been reported in the Cambridge News:
"The first job for us it to make sure all the information we need to begin to assess the application has been submitted. This is likely to take around a week. We will then run a public consultation so everyone locally can have their say.”
The joint statement indicates that the plans will undergo scrutiny because it has made clear that the importance of preserving the green belt will be considered. Furthermore, it has been made apparent that no decision has yet been made.
A local residents’ association has suggested that the potential initiative might impact adversely on the green belt. The group has argued that there is anxiety about a possible increase in traffic if the scheme gets the nod.
