Pantomime actors target Cambridge Half Marathon

The entrants for this year’s Cambridge Half Marathon will include actors from the city’s festive pantomime – and they will be hoping to leave everyone behind them.

Five regular stars of the Christmas show have signed up for this event, led by Matt Crosby who is the pantomime dame. He has been performing in this role for two decades, but this spring he will ditch the makeup for a pair of running shoes. Crosby and his colleagues are taking part in the half marathon to raise money for an appeal called Pay it Forward. This was set up by The Arts Theatre Cambridge, which is the venue for the pantomime.

This is a project that provides subsidised theatre tickets for primary school children in Cambridge. The aim is to increase access to live theatre shows among young people.

Local theatres usually promote their upcoming shows using Posters. Cambridge is home to Print shops offering poster printing that can help with this and other Forms of printed marketing materials.

Crosby spoke to the Cambridge Independent about why the actors had chosen to take part in the half marathon:
“For so many children, a trip to the pantomime is their very first taste of theatre – and often the start of a lifelong love of it.”

He then urged people to support them with a donation.

The Cambridge Half Marathon for 2026 will take place on Sunday 8th March.
