Cambridge development to include community centre

Plans for a major new housing development at a site in Cambridge have been amended, and they now include the construction of a community centre.

This development is called Barnwell Square, and it is being built at Barnwell Road. When it has been completed, it will provide the city with a further 120 homes, all of which will be council housing. Now, it is also set to give residents a brand-new community hub, which will be called The Nest. This facility will be run by Abbey People, a local charity, in collaboration with Barnwell Library.

A library is one of the services that will be included within the hub, alongside rooms that can be booked for meetings and open spaces for use by the public. A number of groups and activities will be set up to enable residents to take full advantage of the facilities.

Flyer printing by shops in Cambridge can be a useful service for local community centres. Putting up Flyers on notice boards that contain information about activities is a way to let people know about them.

According to the Cambridge News, a spokesperson for Abbey People said:
“Above all, The Nest is being created as a place where people feel comfortable, welcome and truly at home in their community.”

The Nest community centre is expected to be ready for its grand opening by summer 2027.
