Shakespeare performance comes to Cambridge

A world famous theatre company is due to travel to Cambridge this week to perform its version of King Lear in the open air.

Eight actors from the renowned Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Company are getting ready to take to a traditional outdoor Elizabethan stage to act out the famous play across a string of performances in the grounds of Corpus Christi College. Punters are encouraged to bring picnics and to enjoy the summer weather as they are entertained by the players.

The production is being promoted using flyer and poster printing. Cambridge News is also assisting with the publicity campaign by offering its readers the chance to win tickets and Posters in an online competition.

The production of what is often known as Shakespeare's 'ultimate tragedy' stars actor Joseph Marcell, who previously played Geoffrey the butler in hit US comedy TV series The Fresh Prince of Bel Air alongside Hollywood megastar Will Smith.

Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Company is now in its fifth year of touring the college gardens of Cambridge University, having previously performed classics like As You Like It and Hamlet. The touring show is always a huge success and tickets are often in high demand for the event.

The production takes place in the grounds of Corpus Christi College from 17th July - 27th July 2013. Tickets are available from the Cambridge Arts Theatre website and start at £20 for general admission. More information can be found on the theatre group’s website.
