New Cambridge restaurant to open by river
A brand-new restaurant is set to open at a spot by the river in Cambridge later this year, and a chef who has won awards for his work has been appointed to head it.
The eatery will be called Garden House, and it will be situated inside the Graduate Cambridge Hotel, which has recently undergone refurbishment. In addition to the restaurant, a space for working purposes, a café and a bar will also open at the same time. The Head Chef for the restaurant will be Adam Wood, a former winner of the BBC programme My Million Pound Menu.
Wood also has previous experience of working at the Perilla restaurant in London, but he has stated that the menu for Garden House will be based on produce from the local area. This is likely to include kelp sauce, grilled Norfolk quail and cured chalk stream trout.
The chef has also indicated that much of the food will be prepared on open flames. New restaurants often use businesses based nearby to provide poster and flyer printing to advertise their grand opening.
The restaurant will be on the ground floor, alongside the new bar. The name comes from a hotel called Garden House, which was a Cambridge landmark until it was destroyed in a fire during the early 1970s.
