Plans for a new facility for development and research purposes to be built on farmland in Cambridge have been revamped, with a number of additional amenities added to them.
It is intended that Cambridge International Technology Park should be constructed on arable farmland that measures 15 acres and is situated close to Fulbourn Road. Now the plans for this facility have been given a makeover and a gymnasium, cafe, multi-purpose room for community use and outdoor areas for barbecues have been added to them.
The council initially turned down the plans, but the Planning Inspectorate subsequently reversed this decision. Now, the plans have been revised with the intention of giving the facility broader appeal and ensuring it fits better with the other buildings in the area. For that reason, the design will now feature less glass.
The main purpose of the park will be to supply life science firms with much-needed laboratories, in addition to spaces for office work. Any companies that move in will have the chance to get all of the business card printing they need from shops in Cambridge.
In the original plans, one of the buildings was set aside solely as office space. However, the revised proposals will see more than half of it devoted to lab space, reducing both the number of people working there and the necessary parking requirements.Get a Free Quote for Plans
