Cambridge Folk Festival reveals guest curator

The Cambridge Folk Festival (CFF) has announced that Jon Boden of Bellowhead will curate the event in 2017.

Jon Boden will be the first guest curator of the CFF. Boden was the lead singer of Bellowhead, a popular English folk group which split up in 2016. His appointment as the curator for the event in the summer of 2017 may mean that there is extra demand for Flyers in Cambridge.

Boden explained:

“I have played at Cambridge many, many times but it's rare that I have been able to stay for more than the day of my gig so I am particularly thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of the event for the full weekend and to immerse myself in the rich culture of Cambridge Folk Festival. I can't wait to get stuck in!”

The role of the guest curator means that the musician will introduce bands he has selected to the various audiences. There are four different stages at the festival. In addition, the curator will assist in showcasing a few surprise events. The general public will have the chance to purchase festival tickets from December 2016.

When the festival comes around, Boden will take the opportunity to perform himself. He is going to play some fresh material which has yet to be released. However, he will also raid his back catalogue to entertain his fans.
