Vaughan to host horse racing awards

The city of Vaughan will play host to a historic night in the horse racing and breeding industry, as the Sovereign Awards come riding into town.

The awards are hosted by the Jockey Club of Canada, and this will be the 48th year they have been awarded. The goal is to highlight people in all sectors of horse racing, both human and equine. Awards will be given for the best Canadian horses in various ages and classes, as well as for categories such as Outstanding Trainer and Outstanding Jockey. The Club will also award the E.P. Taylor Award of Merit and Special Sovereign Award. There are also prizes for media members who help to broadcast and report on horse races in Canada.

Local broadcasters Dawn Lupul and Jeff Bratt will serve as masters of ceremony for the awards. The Sovereign Awards are the first in a series of events designed to mark the 50th anniversary of the Jockey Club of Canada. It will be a formal gala event with group ticket purchases and sponsorships available. Industry and hobby awards ceremonies such as this are a popular way to celebrate contributions, with smaller organizations often turning to printing services to create their own awards.

The 48th annual Sovereign Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 13 at Universal Event Space in Vaughan.
