Vaughn recently saw the spotlight shine on some of its brightest and best at an awards ceremony held to honor the achievements made by Peel Regional Police.
The 22nd annual Police Appreciation Night was held at the Paramount Conference and Convention center in Vaughan
One officer to be honored was Constable Netashia McLellan, who in 2013 rescued a pilot from fiery crash, thus saving his life and averting what could have been a disastrous event.
McLellan, with her proud friends, family and colleagues looking on, was presented with the Garratt Styles for bravery in the line of duty.
The York 22nd Annual Police Appreciation Night also saw the Rob Plunkett Outstanding Service to the Community award being presented to Constable Andre Boteju for raising $20,000 in cash and 10,500 pounds of food for less fortunate people in the community.
Mark Topping, a detective constable with the police, received the Herbert Carnegie Award for his efforts in looking after a diverse community throughout his career, which spans more than a quarter of a century.
Excellence in Policing awards we also handed out to detective constables Marjorie Atkins, Jeffery Bright, Robert French, Deborah Gilmour, Shawna Leitch, Shane MccKenzie, Rebecca McGregor, James Ward, and Stephen Yan, among others.
Recognitions like this can mean a lot to the person receiving it. Printing companies can create beautiful awards certificates, plaques, or other commemorative items of a special day.
