What's Happening in Vaughan, ON…

Vaughan dancer most popular on Canadas Got Talent

A 12-year-old ballet dancer from Vaughan stole the hearts of Canadians last month when he strutted his stuff on the stage of Canada’s Got Talent. Shale Wagman received the highest popular vote in Week 3 of the semi-finals but was cut from the competition.

The young dancer was not overly disappointed. He recently explained that he appreciated the opportunity he had to dance for millions of viewers across the country and wants to be a professional dancer someday, so he is happy for the exposure. His family and dance teachers are thrilled by how far he made it in the competition.

Wagman began training at the age of six at the Vlad Dance Academy in Vaughan and was immediately recognized for his ability. The instructor recommended that he should start at the competition level because he could see his raw talent. The boy trains for 25-30 hours per week, the same amount of time that many children train for sports if they are at the top competitive level. However, he still likes to do the things that most other kids do, like summer camp, sailing, and waterskiing.

Vaughan has a number of top dance academies who list their program details in brochure printing. Many have both recreational and competitive programs. The benefits of learning to dance are usually listed in the brochure printing, including gaining self-confidence, social interaction skills, physical fitness, coordination, poise, and an appreciation of the performing arts.

The television show, Canada’s Got Talent, is a popular venue for break-out stars in almost any field.
