Vaughan community centres to hold first-ever job fair

The City of Vaughan will be holding its first job fair this August, looking for employees to fill part-time and seasonal position at their community centres.

The city has encouraged community members to come out to see if there’s a potential position they would be interested in. Job openings include positions at multiple locations around the city in the areas of fitness, general programming, facilities and aquatics. The centres are looking to fill positions for the upcoming fall, winter and spring seasons.

Attendees should come prepared to be interviewed on the spot. The typical job fair expectations apply, so interested parties should come dressed professionally, with Business Cards and CVs at the ready. Local printing services often help job applicants with the latter element.

Vaughan’s recreation services employ almost one thousand part-time staff, mostly consisting of students. The city advertises the value of skills such as communication and problem-solving developed through working in recreation. Employees can also take classes or participate in programs at the rec centre at discounted rates. For these reasons, recreation jobs, which also include summer camp counselors and special needs integration, are popular among youth.

The job fair will take place at the Vellore Village and North Thornhill community centres on August 24. Applicants can drop by from 11am to 4pm, and must be at least 16 years of age.
