Vaughan area charity event to bring NHL vets to the ice
The York Simcoe Celebrity Hockey Classic will be taking place in the Vaughan area this year, teaming up pro hockey veterans with average people for a good cause.
The event will begin with a VIP Draft Party for participating donors, including a dinner, beverages, and live entertainment. Donors can register as part of teams, and the teams will have the chance to draft a NHL alumnus to play as part of their group. The biggest donors will receive first pick in the draft. Participating teams will also receive team jerseys and socks in the requested colours, to match the company or other group they represent. Each team will play two or three games the following day as part of a tournament.
The Hockey Classic will also raise money through a silent auction. Proceeds will go towards the Easter Seals, a nonprofit group which aims to help children with disabilities reach their full potential. Events such as this often use methods like banner printing and social media to help encourage participation. Participating NHL alumni, the Draft Party MC, and more information is to be announced in the lead-up to the event, with the goal of attracting hockey lovers from York Region areas such as Vaughan and Richmond Hill.
