What's Happening in Vaughan, ON…

Traditional fall fair to return to Vaughan area

This Thanksgiving weekend, one of the Vaughan area’s longest running traditions will return in the form of the Woodbridge Fall Fair.

The fair has been held in Woodbridge, which later became part of Vaughan, since 1847, and still retains many aspects of a traditional agricultural fair in addition to modern attractions. It regularly welcomes over 10,000 visitors over the course of a weekend. Daily displays will showcase local farm life, including locally grown produce and sheep-shearing demonstrations.

Visitors can also take a step back in time to the fair’s finding with a working blacksmith, “pioneer cooking” demonstrations, educational displays on the region’s history, and rides on horses, wagons, and ponies. There will also be competitions for agriculture, crafts, baking and more, including the legendary giant pumpkin contest.

The Fall Fair also contains a modern midway with rides and games, as well as a dedicated entertainment building for children. There will be hourly draws for full turkeys and food vendors to help complete the Thanksgiving table. Fall festivals such as this, often advertised through flyer printing and local media, help to expose vendors to new customers, as well as create family traditions. The Woodbridge fair will include a food and dining area, arts and crafts building, and even a car show to showcase local businesses and hobbyists alike.

The 2023 Woodbridge Fall Fair will take place from October 7 to 9 at the Woodbridge Fair Grounds.
