The residents of the Ontario city of Vaughan are one step closer to having a new hospital and health center built in the area.
At a recent ceremony, it was announced that an architectural firm has been selected to design and plan the new building to ensure compliance with the appropriate regulations.
The company chosen was Toronto’s Zeidler Partnership, which is known to have plenty of experience with similar projects. In the past, its experts have worked on such facilities as the Hospital for Sick Children, Ontario Place, Eaton’s Center, the Princess Margaret Hospital, and the Queen’s Quay terminal.
The event, which was held on the 83-acre lot at the corner of Major Mackenzie Drive and Jane Street where the hospital will be built, was attended by more than 80 people.
The latest developments mark the third stage of the project. The fourth phase will involve the selection of a consortium to actually undertake the building’s construction. It is hoped that the work will start in 2015 to be completed by 2019.
A large sign has been erected near the site to describe the project; it also lists some of the services that will be provided at the new hospital. There is expected to be departments for emergency and critical care, a birthing center, a stroke care ward, and a pediatric unit.
Once the structure is completed, new staff will have to be hired. Local printing companies are often called upon to help with such recruitment drives by providing informative Posters and Flyers advertising the positions available.
