What's Happening in Vaughan, ON…

New power-saving option for Vaughan residents

Residential hydro users in Vaughn are being offered the chance to take part in an innovative electricity pilot plan designed to save both money and power.

The system will allow them to be in better control of their energy costs. Using an Energate Foundation Smart Thermostat, customers will be able to decide whether they want to use more or less power during peak usage times of the day, when the energy costs may be at their highest. They will also have access to Home Energy gateways that will provide them with up-to-date pricing information to help them make their decisions. The thermostats will automatically shift consumption as per the customers’ preferences.

The benefits of the program are lower heating costs for the consumer and a reduced strain on the power grid during peak times.

This program is being offered through the co-operation of the Ministry of Energy and Energate Incorporated. If the system, called Advantage Power Pricing, proves to be a success, it will be used as a template for other regions throughout the province.

Brochure printers can help to let the public know about the offer, and also how it can work for them. They can also let them know that anyone who makes the switch will save as much as 10%, and they will be guaranteed not to pay more than if they were on the existing price structure.
