The MS Walk is the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada’s largest annual fundraiser, with more than 60,000 participants in 2011. Organizers are hoping to surpass the $5.3 million raised by 25,000 participants in Ontario last year.
The Vaughan location for the MS Walk will start and end at Immaculate Conception Catholic School. Participants can choose to walk the 5 km or the 10 km route.
Walkers can register as an individual or as a team. For an official team, only four members are required. You will then receive VIP treatment including team photos, team captain gifts, and a chance to win some fabulous prizes and special awards.
To help you put a team together, just download the colourful information brochure, entitled Footnotes #1, from the MS Walk website that outlines many different ways to be involved. If your printer does not Print 11 x 17 pages, you can take the brochure to a printing company for Copies, or Email it to friends and family.
An enhanced on-line fundraising system is also available to help you create a personal fundraising webpage, share the story of why you walk, invite others to join your team, create thank you notes for people who supported you, and post photos and videos of your journey.
Canada has the highest rate of multiple sclerosis in the world. Over $6 million raised from the MS Walk was allocated to research funding last year to fight this debilitating illness.
