Craft cider fans in Vaughan will now be able to purchase their favorite beverage at selected grocery stores throughout the city and the rest of the York Region.
Five stores have been chosen for the area, all of which are located in either Vaughan or Richmond Hill. They are included in the 60 retail outlets where cider can be now be bought, along with beer.
The Vaughan stores that will now be selling this hard beverage are Steeles and Bathurst FreshCo at 800 Steeles Ave. W, Galleria Supermarket at 7040 Yonge St. and at Coppa’s Fresh Market at 3300 Rutherford Rd.
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) says it has also put out a call for requests from up to 70 other retail establishments that may be interested in selling cider, beer, or wine. Those who are approved could start offering these products as soon as this coming fall. The goal is for there to eventually be 300 retailers, both large and small, that will carry these items. A variety of products, such as promotional Drinkware, can be used in situations such as this to help market these beverages to the public.
The LCBO further noted that the craft cider market has grown by 54% in the 2015-2016 fiscal year, with sales topping $5m, and a spokesperson remarked that the organization hopes the decision to increase the availability of this product will help to support local producers.
