MOBYSS receives generous donation to help local youth

The Mobile York South Simcoe (MOBYSS) provides walk in clinic services to youth throughout Vaughan and the surrounding communities, and they recently received a large donation to help them in their work.

The Markham Stouffville Hospital foundation made a contribution that will help to keep the program going for the next five years. The funding was provided to the Canadian Mental Health Association and the bus was on site at the Markham Stouffville Hospital to help mark the occasion.

The staff got a chance to have tour of the mobile clinic and find out more about the important role that it can play in community health services. It is staffed by a nurse practitioner, a support specialist and a youth support worker. Members of the public between the ages of 12 and 25 can access their free services such as medical attention, counseling and resource education.

According to peer support specialist Robert Friedman, it can be compared to a mobile version of the well-used Kid’s Health Phone, and its services are also confidential and free of charge. Brochure printers can provide a variety of printed informational pamphlets and other materials about health and the services the MOBYSS provides that can be given out to those who need them

Those who want to pay it a visit can use social media to track its current location, book an appointment, view wait times, and more.
