Juried art show on the way for Vaughan

Over the past few years, Vaughan has seen a lot of growth, and has changed its character from a sleepy suburban community to a vibrant city, and this year’s juried art exhibition will celebrate its downtown core.

The area, commonly known as the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, is the inspiration for the theme of the event, which is Inspired City. It will be the eighth juried exhibition of its kind Vaughan has hosted.

Artists from all across the GTA are invited to submit pieces of their work. To qualify, they must be over 18 years of age and their piece must be two-dimensional. Up to three items per artist may be submitted to the jury for consideration. Judging will be done on digital images in a JPEG file format, and they should be submitted on a CD, USB device or email attachments.

Contestants also have the option of submitting their biography and brief artistic statement that is 100 words or less.

Selected works of art will be on display for the public in city hall’s Atrium Gallery from January 12th until March 14th of 2016. These will be eligible to win an award in one of three different categories, which are reserve best in show, best in show and people’s choice. Signs can be placed with each one that describes the work and tells about the artist who created it.

Entries must be received by no later than December 18th.
