Hearing into proposed Vaughan pipeline to be held

TransCanada Pipelines Limited is interested in adding to its lines in Vaughan, and hearings are being conducted to gather the input of those who could be affected by the project.

The plan is for the company to construct, maintain and operate nearly 11.7 kilometers of natural gas pipeline within the city of Vaughan. If approved, it will become part of the company’s existing mainline and the King’s North Connection Pipeline, which was recently approved by the National Energy Board (NEB).

The NEB will be hosting public hearings as part of the process of considering the application to build the line. A group of those who could be affected by the construction are invited to have their say. These include the City of Vaughan, aboriginal groups who may have their traditional territory affected, and people who own land that the pipeline may cross.

Those who wish to have a say may do so either in writing or orally, and must submit their Application to Participate to receive standing to give their input by no later than March 2. Anyone who has already been granted standing just needs to register their intention to participate. Business forms can be printed to help keep process such as this organized and running smoothly.

Those who would like to find out more about, or take part in, the NEB hearing process are invited to visit the NEB website.
