Remembrance Day will be marked by the city of Mississauga with a ceremony to be held at the Mississauga Civic Centre Community Memorial.
The event will be marked with two minutes of silence and also a laying of wreaths to honor the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for their country. Veterans and those who currently serve in the military will also be honored. As well, the city will also lower its flags to half mast as a sign of respect.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10:45 in the morning of November 11th, and it will run until 11:20 am at the memorial located in Mississauga Celebration Square’s Northwest corner.
Those who wish to attend are asked to dress for the weather. If there is severe weather, the ceremony will be relocated to the Civic Centre’s Great Hall. A digital printing company can produce programs for the event that includes a schedule of those who will be laying wreaths, as well as the names of those who play “The Last Post", “ Flowers of the Forest” and other pieces of music that are traditionally played during remembrance memorials
MiWay will be offering free public transportation for the day to Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces and their companion.
