Christmas is a special time of year, and the people of Mississauga recently came together to enjoy an early celebration while helping to make the season better for those in need.
The event, which was called ‘‘Twas The Bite Before Christmas’, brought people together to enjoy a great meal and live entertainment. Mayor Hazel McCallion and Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa were on hand to help dish out the meal, which comprised turkey and all the trimmings.
Through a partnership with the Port Credit Comedy Festival, the crowd was kept entertained by comedian Graham Chitteden. Attendees also got a chance to socialize with one another and enjoy the festive spirit of the occasion.
While it was a very enjoyable night for everyone involved, organizers of events like this often make things even better by calling on a Print company to produce special souvenir materials.
The event was a big success, and more than $30,000 was raised. The funds will be used to support several initiatives that help make this time of year a little bit brighter for underprivileged families.
Some of the money will be used to purchase turkeys so these families can enjoy a traditional holiday meal, and some will be used for other projects like ‘Gift of Christmas’, a party held for 50 children and their parents.
The goal of the evening was to not only raise money but also awareness of the problem of poverty, which is and unfortunate fact of life for many local families.
