The Mississauga food bank celebrated its recent 25th anniversary with a swinging tribute to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. The event, which took place on April 14th, was delightfully appropriate as Mississauga, ON food bank has certainly flown to the moon and back during its history.
Beginning by only feeding 18 families a month, the food bank quickly expanded and now feeds 12,000 families a month. Notwithstanding the growth and success of the Mississauga Food Bank, the biggest hurdle the charity faces is quantity of food donations and effectively marketing the Food Bank to encourage more donations from the public. As a charitable organization with a limited marketing budge, promoting and marketing not-for-profit causes must be done judiciously and wisely. Meghan Nicholls, director of marketing and fund development, hopes the April 14, 2011 gala will raise awareness and support from the local Mississauga, ON community and also to connect the Food Bank’s corporate supporters with diverse members of the community.
One of the ongoing challenges of the Mississauga Food Bank is to spend relatively little on marketing and promotion, yet to spend that money effectively. In addition to holding gala nights, organizations may want to consider using moderately priced printing services offered by various local printing companies in Mississauga, ON for promotion and marketing. Leaflet printing, brochure printing, signage and banner printing can be professionally and carefully crafted and effectively reach the community.
Printing companies are highly encouraged to become involved as sponsors in local charitable events in order to offer non-profit organizations effective marketing printings to promote their causes.
