A number of Mississauga professionals took the dance world by storm at a recent fundraising event.
The fundraising gala, called ‘Dancing with the Mississauga Stars’, was in support of the Community Foundation of Mississauga, which helps to provide money for endowment funds and also to help meet the needs of a wide variety of different community service groups. This was the second year that the organization has hosted the event.
The efforts of those who took part went well beyond the evening’s performances. Janice Baker, Jenny Bowser, Maggie Bras, and Cynthia Ingram all spent many hours taking dancing lessons and perfecting their moves.
Several hundred people turned out for the performance, which took place at the Mississauga Convention Center. Pledges were collected, helping the group reach its goal of raising $50,000. Those who took part afterwards reported enjoying themselves.
Last year, the Community Foundation of Mississauga was able to distribute $1.6 million to the different community organizations that it helps to support.
