Mental Health First Aid Information session to be held in Mississauga

An upcoming seminar is coming to Mississauga to help those who are interested in first aid for mental health and want to learn more about the topic.

The Mental Health Commission of Canada will be hosting the two hour long session that will provide an introduction exactly what mental health first aid (MHFA) is and how it can help those in crisis. According to the organization, this will provide an excellent starting point for those who are interested in taking the full two-day long MHFA certification course.

The topics covered during the two hours will include information about mental health, a description of the Mental Health Commission of Canada and what it does, a brief introduction to MHFA and the five actions that comprise it, as well as self care.

The seminar is geared towards anyone with an interest in the topics covered, ranging from professionals in the field to volunteers, community groups and families that are facing mental health issues.

The cost for the session, which will be held on April 12 at 5110 Creekbank Road, is $20, and light refreshments will provided. A printing company can supply the materials to be distributed during information sessions such as this, as well as any materials that are needed for the full course.

More information about MHFA and Mental health Commission of Canada can be found on the organization’s website.
