Print industry observers note that Print publications often become digital, but sometimes forget to mention that the reserve occurs as well. A new global digital publishing platform called Issuu has responded to this need and allows based in the US allows digital content to be printed on demand through a globally accessible network of printers and Print facilities.
While the service is currently available to select printers, the network is expected to expand in the near future so that Print companies in the Mississauga and Toronto areas and throughout Canada can become involved in the global network. The number of printers are constantly increasing.
Issuu offers low cost Copies of magazines and Books, both hardcover and paperback, with company withholding a small percentage of each order. Issu is currently working on the Print quality of the orders and converting complex digital files into Print-ready ones, allowing it to offer more variety than their existing competitors.
The platforms aims to provide what it calls ‘professional printing for the masses,’ by offering printed material from formats not specifically designed for Print. Issuu says that is the fastest growing digital Print platform with over 52 million monthly visitors, and 210,000 publications added each month, proof that there is high demand for printed versions of digital publications.
With so much potential exposure, printers in the Mississauga area should consider joining the platform in the future.
