The annual Springbank Road Races are set to return to an in-person format this September in a scenic location near London North.
The race is a one-day event that features runs of various distance with staggered start times. This includes a half marathon, runs and walks of five and 2.1 kilometres, and a “kiddy trot” of about 250 metres, aimed at younger attendees.
There will be awards given for the quickest finishes for each distance and age group, as well as for the top pledges. The course includes a loop around Springbank Park and, for the half marathon, a path through the Thames River Park system. Results from the race will also contribute to the Open Series of races organized by SoleScience.
The Springbank Road Races are in their 54th year, with last year’s races being held virtually. The 2021 edition will take place in person, but will have various distancing protocols in effect, including racers running in staggered groups of 25 and wearing masks when not running.
Proceeds from the race go towards Bereaved Families of Ontario – SW. There will also be a draw held for additional prizes. Runs and walks like these often offer Promotional Products to help participants commemorate the occasion, with the Springbank races using bibs that have a specialized timing chip within them.
The Springbank Road Races will occur in London at Springbank Park on the morning of September 26.
