London residents to March for Meals

A London, Ontario charity fixture will be returning this March, as volunteers will raise money for Meals on Wheels London by walking laps around an indoor arena.

The walk-a-thon has been dubbed ‘March for Meals’. Organizers have set a goal of raising $30,000 through the event. Like other charity walks or runs, walkers will raise money by having friends and families donate based on a ‘pledge’ to walk a certain distance. Events with this format often also use tools like poster printing and banner printing to raise awareness, and March for Meals has already created a poster design for this purpose.

Walkers will go in different groups based on age and distance, with the over-20 group getting things started off. There will also be a silent auction held, with funds also going to the organization. Door prizes and live entertainment will help to make the event more festive and supportive.

Local vendors will be present, and sponsors, whether it be brands like CIBC or local institutions like Kiwanis, are also major contributors to reaching the fundraising goal. Meals on Wheels London has over 400 volunteers and works to provide food, services and companionship to the elderly and adults with disabilities.

The 2020 edition of March for Meals will take place on March 27 at the BMO Centre London.
