A London-based distillery is combining two popular but very different types of events to offer a macabre take on the holidays.
“Santa’s Slay”, a pun on the big man’s signature mode of transport, is a dinner murder mystery that will be hosted by Union Ten Distillery. Guests will be invited to explore the distillery, searching for clues as to what happened to “an unsuspecting Santa.” Was it a cranky parent, an overworked elf or reindeer, or just one too many dishes of milk and cookies? In any case, if Christmas is to be saved, the case must be solved, and Union Ten’s visitors and customers are invited to help out.
The event will not be a dour one, however, attendees are invited to wear their ugliest Christmas sweaters, and enjoy a festive dinner with a signature holiday cocktail prepared by Union Ten. The Distillery specializes in what it calls “craft spirits”, including Canadian AppleJack whiskey and OEV Gin. It also offers tours, tastings and a kitchen that serves food and drink.
Many local craft breweries have transformed into restaurants and event spaces to better advertise their products. Unique events like Santa’s Slay complement time-tested methods like poster printing and banner printing when it comes to building a brand.
Santa’s Slay takes place on December 12 at Union Ten’s location near the Banting House in London.
