London conference to focus on legal education

The Association for Canadian Clinical Legal Education, a professional association for teachers and scholars of law, will host its tenth annual conference in London this June, at the same location as the first conference in 2010.

The organization focuses on clinical law, a teaching method based on experiential learning and social justice. The conference’s theme is “Looking Back, Moving Forward”, suggesting that it will be both a celebration of the organization’s viability and an opportunity to plan for its future.

Like a typical academic conference, ACCLE 2019 will feature keynote addresses and roundtable discussions from respected figures in the field. The headline speakers will be Gloria Epstein, a former Court of Appeals judge for Ontario, and David A. Santacrore, a professor at the University of Michigan who also heads up a non-profit corporation designed to make legal education more accessible. Academic and professional conferences are also a frequent venue for networking, with resumé and business card printing often providing business to local Print shops.

The ACCLE conference will take place from June 12 to 14 at the Delta Hotel in London. It will feature a pre-conference reception and dinner in addition to a schedule of panel discussions and keynote addresses. The event is hosted by London’s own Community Legal Services. ACCLE aims to improve the quality of and increase opportunities for clinical legal education, and often acts as an advocate for policy reform.
