Globetrotters to bring new tour to London North

The Harlem Globetrotters traveling basketball exhibition will be coming to the London North area this March, as part of its new “Spread Game” tour.

The Globetrotters have long been known for their exhibition of basketball skills and tricks, typically demonstrated in exhibition games with the ill-fated Washington Generals. The Spread Game tour aims to incorporate more “streetball” influence, and it includes both male and female players. The re-imagined tour also focuses on diversity and in sending a strong message of empowerment to the audience, with an official statement saying:

“The Globetrotters have always been global ambassadors of goodwill. The reimagined team is even more committed to bringing their voice to social justice conversations The Globetrotters’ mission, to spread game and bring family entertainment to the world, continues to drive them today.”

The London stop is part of an ambitious tour that will see the Globetrotters visit 200 cities in 2022. The current Globetrotters squad includes players such as Saul “Flip” White, Brittany “Ice” Hrynko and Orlando “El Gato” Melendez, and the team comes from backgrounds ranging from high-level competitive college basketball to international locales like China and the Ukraine. Sporting exhibitions such as this often use colourful poster printing and videos to promote themselves.

The Harlem Globetrotters are scheduled to appear in London on March 8 at Budweiser Gardens.
