Annual festival celebrates the Renaissance

The Oxford Renaissance Festival is taking place for two days this month.

The festival will celebrate the history and culture of this period in history. There will be plenty of people in period costume, live shows featuring music and comedy, and jousting.

The first day of the festival will be Educational Day and is set to welcome many school groups, with a wealth of educational activities taking place. Later that evening is the Friday Pub Opening beginning at 7:00 pm. This is for guests aged 19 and over and proceeds will be donated to a local charity. Tickets are $10 each.

In addition to the entertainment, there will be a photo contest for cash prizes, a video contest and appearances from birds of prey. Buskers will also be roaming the grounds to entertain the crowds.

There will also be a lot of vendors who will be selling merchandise and food. Applications for vendors are being accepted until June 6. Fees are $350 for a 10 x 10-foot booth and include two festival passes.

Sponsors can purchase $40 advertisements for the festival program that will be offered to all attendees. No doubt London area brochure printers will be asked to provide those programs.

The Oxford Renaissance Festival will be held at the Dorchester Fair Grounds from June 24 to 25. Weekend passes are $37 for adults, $27 for seniors, and $12 for children between 6 and 12. Daily and VIP tickets are also available. Call 519-532-2211 to learn more.
