Winnipeg is set to show some love to its downtown core by taking part in Earth Day celebrations that will be held all over the world.
The neighbourhood will be hosting the annual Earth Day Clean Up, and it offers an opportunity for everyone to get some hands-on experience with environmental stewardship. Those who are interested can choose to volunteer on their own or a part of a team, and those who opt to sign up solo will be assigned to a group of willing helpers.
The participants will be issued gloves and Bags before they head to their assigned location. Meeting points will be determined close to the function’s scheduled date. Anyone who would like to get involved but cannot take part in person is welcome to request a self-guided clean-up kit so they can take on the task on their own. These include a set of supplies, as well as materials that explain the task at hand. Such materials can be prepared by a brochure printing company.
To aid in organizing the activity, the planners have asked the public to sign up in advance. The Downtown Winnipeg Biz website has an event listing that provides more details.
The Winnipeg Earth Day Downtown Cleanup will be held on April 22nd, and the volunteers will fan out to the various locations at 10:00 am. The kits can be picked up at 426 Portage Avenue.
