An event that works to smash the stigma that often surrounds mental illness will be welcoming families in Winnipeg this July, and the festivities are open to one and all.
The city’s Assiniboine Park will be the venue for the Family Mental Wellness Festival, which will both raise awareness about mental illnesses and show those living with one that their community stands behind them. The agenda offers hands-on activities and learning sessions, and registration is not required. Poster printing is often used to promote festivals like this one.
The day will feature an assortment of activity booths, as well as a resource fair, which may help anyone who is in need of mental health support to find the help that is right for them. Along with all of this, there will be therapy dogs on site to meet, and the kids will be invited to pick up an activity passport, which they can redeem for a special prize. Only this part of the activity requires advance registration, where a fee of $10 will be charged.
To highlight the importance of youth mental health, the evening hours will be reserved for a party for those ages 12 to 17. This will conclude a DJ, live hoop dancing and other fun. Supervision will be provided.
The Family Mental Wellness Festival will take place on July 8th.
