Winnipeg workshop to explore options for winter fun

A Winnipeg winter may seem long and cold, but a workshop that will be offered to local residents this February will show how there is lots of fun to be had even when the city is in the deep freeze.

The Manitoba chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) and the Wilderness Supply Company have opened the registration system for the ‘How to get outside and enjoy winter in Manitoba’ session, which will emphasise how to do so safely.

The function will cover an assortment of topics. Choosing the right gear for an activity, packing a backpack properly, choosing the right snowshoes, skis or other equipment for a particular venue, and experience level and tips for being sustainable when enjoying outdoor fun are all on the agenda, and questions will be strongly encouraged.

Once the presentation is over, the participants will be invited to stay and mingle, shop and take advantage of a special discount. The session is free, but to help keep it well organized, tickets need to be reserved in advance. Poster printing can be used to promote such events.

The ‘How to get outside and enjoy winter in Manitoba’ session will be held at 50 Isabel Street. It will begin at 6:30 pm on February 6th. Those who participate will have their name entered in a door prize draw for some special gifts.
