Just as with adults, trauma can greatly impact kids, and a Winnipeg workshop for those who work with children and youth will offer a deep dive into the subject.
Family Therapy Services has made arrangements to offer a seminar that will offer practical tips for dealing with young people who have undergone trauma, and it will take place at the Best Western Plus Winnipeg Airport Hotel. It will be a day-long activity, and one of the perks of attending is that the registrants will have an opportunity to meet and network with others in the field.
The participants in the class will develop a greater understanding of the impact trauma may have on a child, and the basic principles of trauma-informed care will be discussed as well. The interaction between the body, mind and central nervous system during times of stress is on the agenda, and the function will wrap up by ensuring all the registrants walk away with a set of tools they can use when working with their clientele.
Proof of Covid vaccination will be required to attend the class. Handouts and other materials for an educational activity like this may be obtained by contacting local Stationery printers.
Tickets for the Making Sense of Trauma: Practical Tools for Responding to Children & Youth Symposium are available now, and they are $70 each. It will take place on May 6th.
