Winnipeg mac and cheese fans will soon have a reason to rejoice. The largest celebration of this popular dish to be held in North America is set to arrive in the city this July, and it promises to take the basic recipe for this humble comfort food and turn it into something special.
The Mac and Cheese Festival will give local chefs, both amateur and professional, a chance to show off their kitchen skills. There will be more than 50 different varieties of this dish to sample, and all ages are welcome to join in the fun.
While the event’s taste testing will be the big draw for some, there will be lots more to see and do. Live cooking demos will give the attendees a chance to learn some new recipes and cooking techniques, and the adults in the crowd can spend some time relaxing in the beer tent.
