Winnipeg concert to rock the stage for homelessness

Winnipeg’s music-loving residents will soon have an opportunity to raise money and awareness for a cause, and have a great time doing it.

The organizers of this year’s Concert for Socks have put together a lineup of bands and other performers who will be taking to the stage to help the city’s homeless. Efflo, Attica Riots, and Ellowex have already been booked to perform, and the event promises to offer an evening of entertainment that is open to all ages.

While the crowd enjoys the music and other fun, they will be learning about what they can do to make a difference in their community. The organizers of the concert explained that their goal is to help raise awareness about homelessness using stories, songs and art, and an art exhibit created by those who have experienced life on the street will be taking pride of place.

Along with raising funds and awareness, the event will also be collecting donations of new, clean socks. These gifts in kind, along with any monetary contributions from the event, will be donated to 1 Just City, which is a locally based organization.
