Laos, which is a landlocked country in Asia, may seem a world away from Winnipeg., but a special occasion that will give members of the public an opportunity to lend their support to a program that is building a school for children in Laos will soon be held, and it promises to be an evening that is both entertaining and educational.
When they arrive for the ‘Taste of Laos- SKL’ banquet, guests will be treated to an experience that puts Laotian food and culture front and centre. The meal will consist of a variety of authentic dishes from Laos, and this will be accompanied by sampling of the country’s crafts and culture.
The event’s attendees will be invited to browse through the handmade crafts, art, and other items that will be sold in the pop-up market, and they will also be welcome to sample some coffee grown in Laos using organic techniques. Tickets for this experience are $50 each, and they will need to be purchased beforehand to gain entry to the function.
The monies raised during the banquet will be used to help fund the construction of a school in Laos. A printing services company can use wide format printing methods to produce oversized photos of the children who will benefit from an event like this, which can show the guests how their contributions will be used.
This chance for locals to experience a sample of Laos without having to leave their own home town is scheduled for May 4. The Precieux-Sang Community Hall will be the location for the occasion.
