The North Vancouver Tennis Centre (NVTC) recently re-opened to the public, as part of a broader initiative to open up Vancouver's rec centres again and encourage athletic activity during the summer.
The NVTC is a public facility that contains nine indoor hard courts, plus change rooms and an observation lounge. Courts can be booked in advance for 90-minute slots, designed for a friendly game or a dedicated session working on the serve. The centre also typically hosts regular clinics at multiple levels, as well as summer programs aimed at youth to help players develop their games. Programs like these are typically advertised through tools like poster printing and online campaigns, and may return in the coming weeks and months.
The NVTC joins a wave of North Vancouver athletic facilities and recreational programs that are once again restarting. This has included outdoor fitness classes including spin cycling, pickleball, and yoga. Indoor weight rooms reopened around the same time as the NVTC, and summer camps aimed at kids have also been held. There has been a strong interest in the programs, with over 3,400 respondents to a recent inquiry, meaning that the courts may soon be buzzing.
The North Vancouver Tennis Centre re-opened on July 13, and is currently available for bookings from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
