Needle felting uses a special barbed needle to transform unspun fleece into a work of art, and a North Vancouver class will teach the fundamentals of the hobby to a new crop of learners.
Cityscape Gallery will be helping local residents discover the fun of needle felting, and the learning will take place over a series of three lessons. At the end of each one, the attendees will be able to take their materials home so they can get in some extra practice, and each class will run for three hours.
The learners will be introduced to the supplies used for needle felting, and the basics of shape creation, adding details and colour, creating features and finishing touches will be converted as well. They will also be invited to try their hand at making felted clothing embellishments and jewellery. It is intended for those age 15 and up, and each will take place on a Thursday evening.
A workshop or other activity that introduces a hobby or crafting technique offers the chance to learn in a social setting. Brochure printing companies will be happy to craft publications that lend a hand with promoting an event to the public.
Cityscape Gallery will be offering this introduction to needle felting starting on April 25th. Additional information about the activity and its organizers is available on the North Vancouver Arts website.
