Workshop series to welcome Langleys future artists

Kids who enjoy painting and other creative activities will be able to learn new techniques when they take part in an introduction to painting course that will add some extra fun to their summer vacation.

The classes, which will take place in Langley, will introduce kids from age 10 to 14 to painting with acrylics, and it will be an in-studio event. The group of learners will engage in an assortment of exercises to help them develop their skills, and they will receive step-by-step instruction.

The young people who participate in the workshops will start with learning the basics of working with acrylic paints. They will discuss brush types and when and how to use them, and tips for setting up their own working area and palette will also be shared. Mixing primary colours, the use of a colour wheel, toning, shading and other techniques are also on the agenda, as is how to care for painting equipment.

Taking part in an activity like this can add some extra fun to a summer vacation, while also giving youth a hobby they can enjoy throughout their life. Posters can be useful in spreading the word about the function, and these will be available at a local poster printing shop.

Artist Lisa Powers will be sharing her knowledge and talents with young people in the Intro to Painting course starting on June 23rd. The location of the workshop will be provided upon registration.
