Each year, Remembrance Day events take place in cities across the country, and Langley has planned one such function for one of its landmarks.
The gathering is set for the city's Douglas Park Cenotaph, and it will honour the fallen, as well as veterans and those who currently serve. The event’s program runs for one hour, and members of the community are invited to both attend and lay a wreath during the ceremony.
In keeping with the tradition that has been observed for decades, the function will include a moment of silence on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, at the eleventh hour, and a variety of local dignitaries will participate. Anyone who would like to lay a wreath can submit an application to do so starting on October 1st, and the system will remain open until November 5th. The wreaths must be purchased from the Royal Canadian Legion or another source.
Public events give a community a time to come together as one, and they may include a variety of decor. A banner printing company can supply bunting, flags and many other materials for similar activities.
Langley City Recreation, Culture & Community Services has invited all of its residents to be part of this special annual celebration on November 11th. It will begin at 10:50 am sharp, and applications for laying a wreath may be made through the City of Langley website.
