One Langley resident was recently honoured at a dinner meeting of the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce and named the organization’s ‘Good Citizen of the Year’.
Bev Dornan, who has previously served as the president of the group, noted that she was not expecting the award at all and was very pleased to have been selected as the winner.
Each year, the Chamber chooses one person for this distinction, making its decision based upon that individual’s contributions to the community. Dornan has a long track record of community service and volunteering, and was the chairperson of this past year’s Relay For Life, which is an annual event that raises hundreds of thousands of dollars to contributed to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The current president of the Chamber of Commerce remarked that her efforts are truly inspiring and a model for others. For her part, Dornan noted that she is continuing to look for new opportunities to help out those living in Langley and surrounding communities.
