Chili and barbecue lovers will both be making tracks to Langley in six months’ time to take part in an event that will feature their favourite food.
The 31st Annual Canadian Festival of chili and Barbecue will be back for another year, and it will be the largest event of its kind in both Canada and the American Pacific Northwest region. More than $15,000 in prizes will be up for grabs, and the public is welcome to come out and join in the festivities.
In an effort to ensure that the event is bigger and better than ever before, the organizers are looking for both volunteers and sponsors who would like to lend a hand. There will be 20 three-hour shifts on both days of the festival, and the volunteers will be needed for a variety of locations and tasks.
According to the planners, using these unpaid helpers will mean that as much money as possible will be available to donate to the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund, which is the event’s charity of choice. A printing services provider can be called upon to provide customized T-Shirts and other uniforms that can be worn by the volunteers who participate in the weekend’s activities.
This celebration of Canadian chili and barbecue chefs will be held on May 5 and 6, and it will take place at 20393 Fraser Highway in Langley. More information for potential volunteers, sponsors and the general public can be found on its website.
