The annual search has begun in the Langley area for the recipients of the 2018 Extreme Home Repair renovation.
Into its 15th year, the Extreme Home Repair (EHR) program began as a community outreach collaboration called Acts of Kindness. Each year, more than 200 local volunteers and businesses in the community work together to transform the home of a needy family.
Difficulties maintaining adequate housing and affording the necessary resources may arise from numerous circumstances, including sickness, a serious accident, a death in the family or a divorce. The EHR program seeks to give the selected family a fresh start in a more comfortable and secure environment.
To qualify for the program, the home must be located in Langley or Aldergrove. It must be occupied by the official homeowner(s), and cannot be a rental unit. The expectation is that the homeowner(s) and their family are unable to complete the necessary repairs on their own, because of financial constraints or physical limitations.
The Acts of Kindness community outreach program began in 2004, and with events like the Breakfast Club and the Summer Camps for Kids on the Calendars, it is the sort of organization that often seeks assistance from a local brochure printing company.
People may nominate a family and their home for the 2018 EHR project by completing the application form available on the Acts of Kindness website. Businesses interested in supporting this cause should contact the program administrator through the website.
