The Township of Langley recently held a series of Public Engagement Open Houses, and the mayor wished to thank them for taking an active role in the governance of their community.
In a media statement, Mayor Jack Froese spoke on behalf of the township’s council and staff, as well as the Mayor’s Standing Committee on Public Engagement. He commented that he was pleased that the nearly 300 residents who participated in the three sessions has chosen to take time from their day to have their say and possibly make a difference.
The three events were designed to be drop-in style and give the public a chance to speak out about the ways they feel communication between the township and those who live there could be improved when it comes to community planning.
Mayor Froese was pleased that the council got so much feedback. He noted that this input would be combined with other opinions and data that have been collected by the standing committee to develop a new communication and engagement policy and set guidelines for the process. It is expected that the document will be presented to the council before the beginning of 2016. Catalog printers can produce bound Copies of the final report that can be given out to the public and other stakeholders so that they can remain informed about what is going on in their community.
